CARPENTRY WORKSHOP

FIRST YEAR : TEACHING PROGRAM

COURSE CODE: TWP 3111

Theory:

-Timber technology

-Tools and equipments

-Basic wood joints Assembling

-Introduction to wood working machines

-Window, door and roof construction

Practice:

Interpret sketches, cutting list, selection of materials, marking out, planning, boring, cutting, sanding, assembling, and surface finishing.

-Exercise: Stool

Marking out and construction of various window frames and sashes, window lining, fixing of iron mongery, preparing cutting list, identification of drawings, sketches and board drawings, marking out and construction of door frames and shutters, preparing cutting list, identification of drawings, sketches and board drawings, Roof setting out, truss construction, roof construction, ceiling setting out, members and construction.

 

We offer also guidance to student in the final year for practical implementation of their projects.

 

CONSULTANCY AND SERVICES:

 

  • To prepare and conduct short courses in carpentry.
  • To participate in curriculum development in carpentry for technical schools and vocational training center.
  • Procurement and installation of carpentry equipments.
  • Fabrication of various items (tables, doors, windows)
  • Repair carpentry.
