Commonwealth Deputy Secretary General visits KIST in
2009
Mrs. Mmsekgoa Masire Mwamba, the Commonwealth Deputy Secretary
General visited KIST on 11th February, 2009. She was in
Rwanda to attend a high level strategy retreat on the East African
Community (EAC).
At KIST, Mrs. Mwamba was received by the Rector, Prof. Abraham
Atta Ogwu, among other KIST officials and students. As part of his
welcome message, Prof. Ogwu thanked the Commonwealth Deputy
Secretary General for having graced KIST with her timely visit.
In response to questions from the KIST audience, Mrs. Mwamba
highlighted that the Commonwealth thrusts its focus on activities
that involve democracy, development and education in member
countries. She was then given a guided of tour of KIST facilities
like laboratories, ICT centers and cottage industry.
Mrs. Mmsekgoa Masire Mwamba was impressed by the current
achievements marked by KIST. KIST illustrates a practical pragmatic
approach to contribute to global challenges, she stressed. She added
that institutions such as KIST contribute to the development of
various industries of a country
