Prof. Jolly Mazimhaka obtained her PhD in Literature in English (specializing in Shakespeare & his contemporaries) in 1997 from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada, where she also worked as a Teaching Fellow and Lecturer in Literature in English to students of Engineering (Critical Thinking and Analysis) for slightly over ten years. In late 1997, she left Canada to join KIST at its inception; and became one of the pioneer members of KIST staff.

Dr Mazimhaka was the first Coordinator of the Dept of Languages, the first Head of what shortly became the Language Centre, and as the Institute expanded, the first Dean of the School of Language Studies before she was appointed Director of the then newly established Academic Quality Assurance Directorate in 2002.

Dr Jolly Mazimhaka is also an author of children’s books, and as a professional educationist, her research interests focus on higher education in Africa in general, in Rwanda in particular, and on gender and race issues in relation to national development. Prof. Jolly Mazimhaka is currently the Director of Academic Quality Assurance & Enhancement at KIST, as well as a member of staff in the KIST Language Centre.
