General
The KIST Journal of Science and Technology (KJST is published
by the Kigali Institute of Science and Technology (KIST). It is
established by the Directorate of Research, Publication and Consultancy
and headed by an Editor-in-Chief, Managing Editor and Review Editors.
In general, only original papers will be considered. Submission
of a manuscript to kist journal of science and technology is representation
by the author that the manuscript has not been published or submitted
simultaneously for publication elsewhere. If a paper has appeared
previously, in any form, authors must clearly indicate this in
both their cover letter and in a footnote on the first page of
the paper. KJST will publish articles written in standard British
English. The papers are published free of charge.
Review process
The manuscript submission and peer review process is broken down
into the following steps:
1. The author submits a manuscript.
2. The chief editor or managing editor assigns a review editor
for the paper.
3. Manuscripts not adhering to journal guidelines will be returned
to authors without scientific evaluation. Submitted manuscripts
adhering to journal guidelines are reviewed by the editor-in-chief
or a review editor, who will assign it them to referees (2 or
3). The editor reserves the right to choose other reviewers than
those provided by the authors.
4. The referees review the manuscript and send reports back to
a review editor.
5. The review editor sends a review and makes recommendations
to the managing editor.
The recommendations can be following:
- paper accepted for publication;
- paper accepted for publications with minor or major changes;
- paper rejected for publication.
6. The editorial board considers the recommendations given by
the review editor, makes a decision and the author is contacted.
The editorial board prepares a decision letter according to the
comments of the referees, which is sent to the corresponding author.
