Head of Department, Applied Mathematics

René-Michel Shumbusho is the Acting Head of the Applied Mathematics Department at KIST since March 2012 and Lecturer in the same department since June 2010.
He was Assistant Professor of Mathematics at the University of South Florida, Saint Petersburg for four years prior to joining Kist in 2010.
He did his undergraduate studies at the National University of Rwanda, Butare, where he received his degree, Licence en Sciences Mathematiques, in 1992, then proceeded to teach there for five years, until 1997.
He then got an admission at the University of Georgia, USA, in December 1997 to pursue a PhD program. He received his PhD degree in 2004, and his area of interest in Mathematics is Algebraic Number Theory and Arithmetic Geometry.
