Karangwa Désiré is actually Director of Postgraduate Studies and Senior Lecturer in Mathematics department, Faculty of Science. His areas of research are Mathematics Modeling, Celestial Mechanics, Dynamics Chaos and Numeration systems.
Karangwa Désiré taught basic course as Linear Algebra, Analytic geometry, Classical mechanics Analysis, Celestial Mechanics and so on. He is visiting Lecturer in Lappeenranta University of Technology, Finland and University of Burundi, Burundi.
He is PhD holder from FUNDP, Namur, Belgium. PGDE and BSC honours from official University of Bujumbura, Burundi
Karangwa Désiré was member of KIST Governing Council (BoD) from 2002 till 2010. From 2004 up to 2010, he is Dean of Faculty of Science; he participated actively in setting up and Launching of the faculty of science in KIST. He was the chairperson of the Curriculum Development Joint Committee with the Kaiserslautern University of Germany and KIST.
In 2008-2009 he was chairperson of KIST IV Implementation and Processing Monitoring Committee. In 2010, he was appointed Chairman of KIST Development Plan Fund Raising Committee.
Karangwa Désiré was Head of Mathematics department in 2002 – 2004 and Head of Mathematics Unit in 1999.
In 1995, Karangwa Désiré was member of the National Committee for relaunching the National University of Rwanda.
In the past, Karangwa Désiré has served in University of Burundi as Lecturer and held the office of the President of Polytechnic Section in Faculty of Science from 1989 to 1994. He taught in National University of Rwanda as full time lecturer till 1997.
