WELDING AND FABRICATION WORKSHOP

Welding section is a workshop, which deals with metal joining by heat and others metal, joining methods and metal works.

TEACHING PROGRAM

COURSE CODE: TWP 3111

COURSE TITLE: WORKSHOP TECHNOLOGY I

• Safety and theory on welding equipment for different welding processes.
• Basic knowledge of metal joining by different welding processes
• Welding principles: the students are introduced to fundamentals that will enable them what is taking place in the application of various processes
• Welding practices: the students learn the manual skills which enable them to begin with the most elementary work and progressively study and practice each process untill they are skilled.

Welding has two major functions:

• As a means of Fabrication and
• For maintenance and repair

We offer also guidance to student in the final year for practical implementation of their projects.

PROCESSES AVAILABLE:

• Oxy-acetylene gas welding and gas cutting processes
• Shielded Metal Arc welding process (SMAW)
• Tungsten Inert Gas Welding process (TIG)
• Metal Inert Gas welding process (MIG)

CONSULTANCE AND SERVICES:

• To prepare and conduct short courses in welding and fabrication.
• To participate in curriculum development in welding and fabrication for technical schools and vocational training center.
• Procurement and installation of welding equipments.

• Fabrication of various items (tables, doors, windows, simple gates, wheeled gates, Brick making machines, pump kerosine stove, cloth hangers, cylindrical water tanks, rectangular water tanks, rayon for books, wheel borrow.)
• Repair welding.
