The B.Sc. Computer Engineering is a five year professional degree program administered full time to prepare highly skilled competitive technocrats for the complex computing requirements of the industry, teaching and research. The course is tailored to meet the challenging computing needs of the country, conforming to the Institution of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc. ( IEEE ) USA standards for Computer Engineering, the best in the world. Much thrust is given to the Engineering aspects of computing like computer systems, computer hardware and development, software engineering and project management. It is also designed to expose the graduating aspirant to the latest knowledge and skills in computing through a series of well designed lectures, laboratory practices, field trips, industrial trainings, case studies and research activities. Graduating Engineers can take up challenging jobs immediately on graduation Admission Requirements For admission into the Computer Engineering degree programme, a minimum of two principal passes in Mathematics and Physics at Secondary School Advanced level is needed from any of the A-level combination Government sponsored students are selected by the Rwanda National Examinations Council. Programme Content
The content of the program is an integration of the IEEE designated Introductory, Core and Supporting courses modularized and administered uniformly semester wise during the five years. Year 1: Engineering Mathematics, General Physics, Concepts In Computer Engineering, Workshop Technology, Computer Literacy (ICDL), Computer Programming, And Engineering Drawing, Engineering Mechanics. Year 2: Engineering Physics, Basic Electronics Engineering, Fundamentals Of Electrical Engineering, Computer And Information Systems, Analysis And Design Of Algorithms, Object Oriented Programming, Discrete Structures For Computing , Analog Circuits , Signals a nd Systems , Computer Hardware a nd Maintenance.
