Carnegie Mellon University in Rwanda gave a public lecture at KIST

On Tuesday, 24 January, 2012, KIST hosted Carnegie Mellon University-Rwanda’s senior staff for a public lecture and information session. The lecture was delivered by CMU-R’s Associate Director, Professor Michel Bézy, who discussed a trending topic in the ICT domain: Cloud Computing. CMU-R also held an interactive and information session to present its program offerings in graduate education and professional development to both students and staff present.

The Abstract of the lecture was: The New Nomads and Cloud Computing in Africa A new type of cloud is bringing hope for the next generation of African innovators and unleashing their creativity: Cloud computing.

The integration of mobile, broadband internet and cloud computing is opening new opportunities for SMEs, as a key development sector for Africa The Rector of KIST who officially opened the lecture thanked CMU-R for choosing KIST as their first destination in a series of tours that they intend to make around different institutions of higher learning , in her remarks the rector said “ KIST should not only be the first but the best in what we do”. Others in attendance were faculty staff and students from the faculty of engineering.
