In a colourful ceremony,the e-learning laboratory at KIST was officially inaugurated on Tuesday 10th/01/2012 by the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister of The Republic of Rwanda, Pierre Damien Habumuremyi together with Hon. Li Yuanchao, Member of the Political Bureau and Secretariat, and Minister of the Organization Department, CPC Central Committee, also in attendance were H.E Mr.Shu zhan Ambassador of China to Rwanda, Hon.Minister of Education Dr.Vincent Biruta, Hon.Ignace Gatare Minister of ICT, Mr. Ai Ping Vice Minister of the International Department, CPC Central Committee, Mr. Zhang Jinan Vice Minister of the Organization Department, CPC Central Committee, Mr. Chen Jian Vice Minister of the Ministry of Commerce, Ms.Ji Ping Vice Chairperson of Huawei Technology,Rector,VRA,Ag.VRAF , KIST Staff and Student’s representatives.

In her speech the rector said “This project will help KIST students follow classes conducted by one lecturer teaching a number of classes at the same time thus reducing costs, time and sharing learning resources among students at the same time, this wouldn’t be possible with the classical method of one lecturer per classroom at a given time, We thank HUAWEI for this donation and we promise to make good use of this technology”.

On behalf of the donor company, Ms.Ji Ping , the Vice Chairperson of Huawei Technology, said “KIST is one of East Africa’s best known Universities, over the years under the leadership of Rwanda Government and the Rt. Honorable Prime Minister,KIST has educated a good number of technical talents in the ICT field and has provided sufficient human resource for MTN,TIGO, the National optical backbone,HUAWEI and other technology based companies”

Hon. Li Yuanchao, thanked KIST for the progress it has made and said “KIST is the future of Rwanda” and can get more support.
