To implement M&E in education, KIST was chosen by RITA to carry out and introduce the M&E in ICT program into KIST Computer engineering and Information Technology curriculum for fourth year students, while RITA through the eRwanda ("using ICT for efficient and Effective government services delivery") project would provide the financial and technical support for this program.

It is from this MoU that it was agreed that KIST would introduce the M&E in ICT program into the KIST Computer engineering and Information Technology curriculum for fourth year students while RITA through the eRwanda project would provide the financial and technical support for this program.
During this one year of implementation, KIST selected CEIT students who do the data gathering, analysis and report compilation as part of the second module of the program and an M&E consultant hired by KIST facilitates the course.
RITA meets all finances related to this program including the consultancy fees, library materials, students field work costs and last but not least the establishment of a fully equipped computer laboratory for the program.
Since the signing of this agreement between KIST and RITA, the fourth year CEIT students have been able to complete the first module (theory of research) of the M&E in ICT program and the selected 17 participants are in the second module preparing to commence field work in October 2008 before their certification at the end of this year.
In addition to this the M&E consultant (Professor Roger Sapsford) has completed facilitation of the theory module. All books for the program have been procured by the eRwanda project and the computer laboratory renovation and equipping have been completed and are ready for use. On a whole this initiative has cost the project up to US$57,000 |
