Information Society Technologies (IST-Africa) held a one day workshop for Researchers, on 3rd November 2009 in the KIST Boardroom


IST held a one day workshop on how to access the European Union (EU) Framework 7 (FP7) research funding in KIST

The Regional Impact of Information Society Technologies in Africa 2010-2011 is a collaborative initiative coordinated by IIMC (Ireland).
IST-Africa is focused on raising wider awareness of African research capacity, promoting participation of African Organizations and Institutions so as to identify co-operation opportunities in fields of mutual interest.
The primary activities being carried out by IST-Africa include:

  • Promoting research cooperation between European and African organizations and promote the inclusion of African partners in proposals addressing .
  • Pervasive and Trusted Network and Service Infrastructures
  • Digital Libraries and Content
  • Sustainable and Personalized health care
  • ICT for Mobility, Environmental sustainability and Energy efficiency
  • ICT for Independent Living and Inclusion
  • Research Infrastructures (Capacities Programme).

The Rector Prof. Abraham Atta Ogwu officially opened the workshop that took place on 3rd Nov. 2009 in the KIST Boardroom, and emphasized the importance of research and information sharing among researchers in Higher Institutions of Learning.
Participants included the Vice Rectors of KIST Prof. John Mshana (Academics), Mr. GATABAZI Emmanuel (Administration and Finance) Directors from MINEDUC and the President’s Office , Researchers from Universities and Institutions of higher Learning in the Country among others.
The workshop was moderated and facilitated by resource persons Mr. Paul Cunningham and Ms. Miriam Cunningham representing IIMC Ltd, Ireland
